How did you earn an A in the class? Do you have any advice for future students? |
"I earned my A by reading prior to class for understanding, not reading the material just to read, doing pre-class homework both attempts even when I made a good grade, following along notes in class, taking notes in class and asking questions when I was confused on a topic. Studying for test you have to change the numbers up to be sure you understand the topic, Work in a group that will help you get to the right answers, not just give it to you, know the materials for yourself, and bringing a calculator really helped too. I'd advise future students to take heed to my advice because I figured my way through the class on my own, don't be shy about wrong answers because at least you tried, and try to have fun in the class."
"I made sure to take notes in and out of class. I also made sure to watch the narrated slides before class and to have prepared any questions or concerns that I might have. Usually they would be addressed throughout the class." "My advice would be to read before class, as instructed and to do the homework with notes from the reading." "Do the reviews THROUGHLY, participate and give feedback, ask questions, and do all of the work on time. Getting an A is all about personal motivation. If you get a B or lower you can only blame yourself because the class is impossible to fail if you do all the work needed. Mr. McNeil gives you and tells you everything you need, do not blame him if your grade goes south. Just be a good student." "I studied, did my homework, and read the powerpoints given to me by the professor." "Just focus, do every assignment, ask questions, and if you need further assistance sign up for office hours." |
What technologies did you use to facilitate your learning? |
"I used PowerPoint to take notes within the slides during class (you can also print them out), Slack for communication with the class (this app is mandatory), the McGraw-Hill ebook comes with an app that's very helpful, and a simple Google search helps every now and again." "I used my laptop and my iPhone." "I had a personal laptop which made things easier to do on my own time. nothing special." "Evernote, online textbook, Boogie Board (you should advertise this to your students, it's a great device that anyone can use for all classes.)" "I used my phone and my laptop. I also used the app that allows us to read the textbook from my phone, since I bought the online version." "Slack and Connect" |
